Presidents Message
August 20, 2010
I’m keeping it short this month, so this month’s message is:
I have only been able to go salmon fishing at Westport once this year and I have yet to get a tuna trip in. That is about to change. The weather looks great, the fish are in and my kitchen pass is valid! By our next chapter meeting I hope to have had a good tuna trip under my belt, I’ll let you know how we did.
Get out there and enjoy this great time of year doing what each of us love to do!

Holiday Party – Dec. 4
This year’s Chapter Holiday Party will be held December 4th at the Kent Community Center (same place as last year). Steve Amend is our new Party Committee Chair and he will bring signup sheets for the various duties to the meeting.
Send your fishing pictures to Rich Gregory as soon as possible so he can start putting a slide show together. You can bring your electronic photos to the meeting via USB drive, identified with your name, or you can send them electronically to Rich at sof.psa@hotmail.com.
Please bring items for the silent auction to Joseph Madrano or Duane Horton as soon as possible. Donations of items other than fishing gear are also encouraged to keep our non-fishing family members happy and interested.
4th Annual Carbon River Clean Up – September 25th
A few thoughtless fishermen can ruin opportunities for the rest of us by leaving their trash on the river. Some of these idiots routinely turn beautiful stretches of our most productive rivers into garbage dumps! Many private property owners have closed public access to prime fishing spots because of litter. And who can blame them? Our chapter, lead by Steve Bagley, is trying to reverse that trend. You can help improve the public’s perception of fishermen by picking up trash on the Carbon River for the 4th annual Carbon River Clean Up. We will start at 9:00am and should be done by noon. Steve Bagley (253-468-2473) will have more information about this event at Wednesday’s meeting. Donuts, water, and trash bags will be provided as well as a discount on the best Mexican food lunch in Orting.
Blue Fox Spinner BlowoutThe chapter bought several hundred Blue Fox #6 spinners at a discount. With their large blades and heavy bodies, these balanced spinners are ideal for Coho and Chinook. Sportco sells them for $3.29, plus tax. Cabela’s sells them for $4.49, plus tax. Other stores charge even more. But we’ll have them in assorted colors at the next chapter meeting for much less: any 3 spinners for only $5! That’s $1.67 each! So bring your cash or checks to take advantage of this tremendous offer.
